Peter Werner was raised in Middlebury, Vermont. He attended Middlebury Union High School and went on to graduate from St. Louis University in St Louis, Missouri. In 1986 he began his career in Rutland, Vermont as Director of New Business Development with Kinney Pike Insurance (Formerly - Kinney, Pike, Bell, and Conner). In 1988 he was promoted to Account Executive in the commercial insurance department. Peter became Assistant Vice President in 1994, received his Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation in 1996 and was named Vice President in 2001. He served as a member of the management team from 2000 through 2009. On December 31, 2009, Peter, along with two other partners purchased Kinney Pike Insurance. They successfully managed the agency until the merger with OneDigital on November 1st, 2021.

Peter currently resides in Brandon, Vermont with his wife, Karleen. They have two grown children, Erik, and Kirsten. Peter spent eight years as a member of the Otter Valley Union High School Board and a Committee Member of Troop 111, Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, he has been involved with various business groups including, the Entrepreneurship Forum of Vermont and Rutland Economic Development Corporation. Peter also sat on advisory boards for several insurance companies over the years. In his spare time, he can be found maple sugaring.
